Ascenso a la Malinche

Located in the limits of Puebla and Tlaxcala States, “La Malinche” or “Malintzin” is the sixth tallest mountain in Mexico with a height of 4,450 meters. It was declared National Park on October 6th 1938, and it has an extension of 45,711 hectares. It is surrounded with woody vegetation and most part of the area is covered with coniferous woods, pines, oaks and zacatonales. There are over 100 species of mammals, birds and reptiles, of which 16 are endemic of the neo volcanic axis. Flora-wise, there are 6 species of pine and 120 of flower plants that gently decorate the path. La Cima, La Barranca de San Juan and Antiguo Cráter, that still holds prints from the glacial period, are some of the attractions.
